Get to know Shogi, the Japanese version of chess.

Shogi is the name given to a fantastic board game of Japanese origin, whose goal is to capture your opponent's King. You could define Shogi as the Japanese version of the classic game of chess.

In this PC version of Shogi, you'll find a game created in Java, where you have a board divided into grids onto which the game pieces are placed. As mentioned above, the aim of the game is to capture your opponent's king. As you approach your target you can use the opponent's pieces captured in your favour. That is, when it's your turn to play, you can move a piece of yours on the board or use one of the pieces of your opponent's that you have previously captured.

Once your pieces reach the area of the board of your adversary (effectively the last three rows) they can be promoted, except those called Osho and Kin, thus changing their movement, which is very interesting.

As you will see, after downloading and installing this version of Shogi onto your computer, the game is very faithful to the original rules of the board game, with the advantage of you being able to choose whether you want to play against the computer in three levels of difficulty or against another player.

And so you don't get confused during the game, on the right side of the board there's a list where you can see each of the moves made, both by you and by your opponent.
